MICHIGAN CONSTRUCTION CAREER DAYS
CHANGE YOUR WORLD...CHOOSE CONSTRUCTION
WHAT IS MICCD?
Since 2008, MICCD is Michigan’s premiere construction career exploration event. Based on the National Career Day model, MICCD provides Michigan’s young people a chance to experience construction up-close, getting the chance to use real tools, materials and heavy equipment under the direct guidance of construction professionals from all sectors of the industry. These young people will not only see what construction is, but learn of the training and education paths to secure the good paying jobs a career in construction provides.
After discussion with the Michigan Construction Career Days Advisory Board, and in accordance with guidelines put forth by both the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services and the Center for Disease Control, the 2020 Michigan Construction Career Days scheduled for May 6th and 7th has been cancelled.
As you can imagine this decision was not taken lightly. Michigan Construction Career Days is one of the largest hands-on opportunity for 7-12 grade students to learn about the professional skilled trades, and the support we receive from both our participating sponsors and attending schools has been exceptional. Michigan Construction Career Days brings together Employers, Labor and Trade Organizations, Government, Universities, Community Colleges, and Associations – each essential to helping develop the future workforce and inspire the next generation. This year has certainly been no different, but it is because of that support we have made that decision now – to assist both schools and sponsors to allocate their resources and plan their schedules with the greatest adaptability in these uncertain times.
While the event itself is cancelled for this year, our support and assistance to schools will be ongoing. In the next few months, Michigan Construction Career Days will be reaching out with additional resources and materials for students planning their future careers. We also plan to stay in communication with our participant schools to make sure that all interested students, teachers and counselors have the support to questions as they arise, and those materials available to them.
These are challenging times, but the amazing bonds we have created together – construction and education – will continue to be our strength as we navigate the challenges. Together, we accomplish great things, and with that continued spirit, we will come out of this stronger than ever.
Please look for future correspondences from us, continue to visit MichiganCCD.com for updates, and do not hesitate to reach out with any requests you may have. Thank you for your understanding and for your continued partnership, and lets look forward to an even brighter future.
